Prior to starting Decisions in 2009, Carl began in mid 90's as an innovator in object oriented
programming for business. He started his first technology company in 1998 (oop.com) which
developed a graphical configuration technology and rules engine. The company was sold to
NetDecisions, a global technology company and private equity fund in 2001. As the CTO over
technology ventures at NetDecisions, Carl also organized and created Fluency, a voice recognition
technology based on the oop.com platform.
In 2003, recognizing the potential of workflow in conjunction with other configuration technologies,
Carl formed Transparent Logic. Using a .net based platform, Transparent Logic delivered a fully
graphical platform for creating workflows, rules and form building suite.
Transparent Logic was sold to Altiris/Symantec in January 2008. At Symantec, Carl was the Senior
Director in charge of R&D for the workflow team. During his time at Symantec, he created the next
generation Symantec Service Desk, based on the workflow technology.

Duane Newman
CEO (tl8n: Sales)
Prior to joining Decisions.com in September 2010, Duane was a Senior Director of Product
Management at Symantec, responsible for driving product strategy & vision for the Symantec
Protection Center and Management Platform. Duane joined Symantec in 2007 through the Symantec
acquisition of Altiris.
During his time at Symantec/Altiris, Duane both managed and brought to market a number of
new products, including the Altiris Asset Management Suite. At Symantec, Duane spearheaded
the acquisition of Workflow technologies and was responsible for the delivery and adoption of the
platform by other Symantec products and groups.
Before joining Altiris in 2001, Duane was responsible for the creation and development of an asset
management system for personal property tracking and worked with many large corporations and
state agencies. He also owned and operated a private IT services company targeted at delivering
hardware and IT services to small businesses. His background includes asset management, network
design and IT administration.
Heath
Developer (CTO)
After finishing a degree at the University of Virginia, Heath joined the DOD, working in the
datacenter. During his time at the DOD, he was responsible for management and operations for highly
secure, distributed servers. Following his time at the DOD, Heath joined OOP/NetDecisions and was a
Senior Developer on the core technology team, developing the automation platform.
In 2000, Heath joined Fluency as the Product Architect. During his time at Fluency, he led the
technical team in architecting and delivering a next generation voice automation system.
Heath joined Transparent Logic in 2005 as the lead developer on the core workflow and automation
technologies. As part of the Symantec acquisition of Transparent Logic, Heath was named as
Director of Development on the workflow team. During his time at Symantec, Heath managed diverse
development groups while delivering multiple feature rich and timely product releases.
